9 Personal Year | April is a 4 Personal Month

🤔  Reflection for April: This is the month to batten down the hatches and examine your personal “root system.”

April is a more serious month and will push you to be even more practical than usual. It might feel like a “Come to Jesus” time right now where you’re feeling pressured to come to terms with your economic situation in a down-to-earth and practical way.

This can also show up not so much in your financial life, but perhaps in your relationship world or emotional life. It can even present as a spiritual crisis or “dark night of the soul.”

You are in your 9 Personal Year, after all!  Why not throw it all on the table!?

Even though this is rarely a “fun” experience, it’s a wonderful opportunity to rearrange and recalibrate your business and emotional affairs that have needed to be adjusted for quite some time now.

Let’s also place your month into a larger context.

Don’t forget that we’re all globally experiencing a 9 Universal Year — a collective time of unraveling, letting go of the old to make room for the new.  It’s tumultuous, emotional, and — most often — confusing and somewhat draining emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Add to that some rather seismic Astrology:  Last month (March) alone, this is the break-down:

Venus and Mercury retrogrades, a total lunar eclipse, and the spring equinox, potentially bringing shifts in relationships, communication, and new beginnings.

  • March 1: Venus began its retrograde in Aries, which could impact relationships, values, and creative expression.
  • March 13-14: A total lunar eclipse, potentially bringing out-of-the-blue shifts in wellness, daily routines, and mental energy.
  • March 14 – April 7: Mercury retrograde in Aries, which could lead to miscommunications and re-evaluations, then moving back into Pisces on March 29th, remaining there until after it goes direct on April 7th.
  • March 20: Spring equinox, marking the start of a new astrological cycle as the sun enters Aries.
  • March 29: A new moon and a partial solar eclipse.

What’s the point of this review of what you’ve just been through last month? There’s A LOT going on energetically, whether we like it or not or even believe in it or not. I’ve always joked (but not joked) that once you know both your Astrology and your Numerology, you’re out of excuses!

Just know that this is a year for the record-books globally and perhaps it’s the same for you in your own personal life as well.

When you experience any cycle guided by the number 4 (which is the number of your personal month right now), you’ll be presented with a few curve-balls in terms of weird detours or limitations.

While it sounds obvious—and we all know that change is the only constant (oh, those clichés!)—it really is true.

And also, often this can be a time where others in your life have outgrown you on some level and then that unraveling can begin to take shape. And please don’t understand this as a defeat or as a judgment. By “outgrown,” this can simply mean that you’re moving in one direction and the other person (or people or circumstances) are moving in another.

To offer an example: This can show up when you’ve been in your 20s and your group loves to party and most live paycheck to paycheck. Now you’ve crested into your 30s and suddenly, you’re in that “been there, done that” frame of mind. You want to have some stability, a career rather than a job, and you aren’t very fond of waking up with a massive hangover anymore.

So you’re in the midst of pursuing a new trajectory. You’ve limited your consumption of alcohol, you’re getting serious about a new training program that will get you into an entry-level job that has some longer-term potential, and you’re simply starting to look more seriously at your life and forecast some longer-range plans.

Yet most of your current group are still living in the moment with the focus of conversation on how many shots they did last night and what the aftermath of their crazy behaviors were and the intensity of their hangover (and they still think it’s cool and funny and it’s so much drama!).

So now what? You need a new group of friends who will support the up-leveling of your life. That’s where the reality of outgrowing comes into play. It seems obvious, yet it’s always a rather cataclysmic alteration in life.

And this is often, on some level, what takes place during your transformational and transformative 9 Personal Year. You’re moving on and into something that’s more fitting for your personal evolution and—in practical terms—you’re continuing to grow up and grow into yourself, no matter what your actual age might be.

Yet when we’re right in the middle of it, it’s not so easy nor painless.

Around April 4th, you’re likely to have some organizational work to handle in regard to something that’s moving toward being tied up.

This is a month where you’re examining your overall sense of security, stability, and investigating some longer-range goals. Yet during the 9 Personal Year, this most likely shows up in the form of experiences that reveal what isn’t working rather than what is working.

Why? Because the whole focus of the year is to bring up to the surface those things that have run their course and are ready to make their exit. The 9 is about releasing, not initiation nor staying put or just holding the status quo.

Just know that you’re already in a highly transformational time with your 9 Personal Year. The energy of the 4 demands that you feel into your future self and take some serious efforts to stabilize yourself in whatever way is appropriate for you right now.

Chances are you’ll be taking a look at some of your deeper wounding or should we say programming from your family of origin and your childhood this month. It might be time for hypnotherapy, breath work, energy work or any other modality that can support this process for you.

Take it step by step and make sure to remember to give yourself breaks and to watch your inner dialogue. Treat yourself like you would treat your best friend or your child.

In April, take some breaks and be even kinder to yourself than you could ever imagine.

Note: There are two schools of thought regarding the Personal Year.

The first is that it runs from January 1 – Dec. 31 of each calendar year.

The Personal Year is derived from adding together your MONTH of birth + the DAY of birth + the CURRENT YEAR.

Therefore, the logical flow is that it takes place for the calendar year for which it is being calculated.

**Remember: If you subscribe to this mode of thought, your Personal Month RESETS and CHANGES on January 1.

The second mode of thought is that the Personal Year runs from birthday to birthday, somewhat like a Solar Return in Astrology.

If you know my work at all, you’ll know that I’m someone who simply attempts to point out the different schools of thought and then the ball is in your court. It’s up to each of us to determine method makes the most sense to us and feels right or correct.

It’s like anything else in life. People can get really adamant about the correct diet (keto? paleo? vegan? gluten-free? vegetarian? and on and on).

You can go to different doctors with the same condition and get different courses of treatment. You can study Pythagorean numerology, or subscribe more to Chaldean numerology, or other modalities.

I don’t mean to belabor it, but it might surprise you how many people contact me and leave comments insisting that their particular methodology is the only right way to do it.

If you subscribe to the birthday-to-birthday way of thinking, you calculate this way:  Using your birth date, add the MONTH + DAY + YEAR OF YOUR LAST BIRTHDAY

Just know that you’ll change into a new Personal Year on your BIRTHDAY, meaning that you’ll also change which Personal Year you read for your Forecast! This mode of thinking is more confusing until you wrap your brain around it.  đź’Ą

So I just want to be clear. It’s up to YOU to determine what school of thought feels right to you. And it’s ends up being just that:  HOW IT FEELS. Sit with it. Ponder it. Feel into it.

If you feel the Personal Year runs from birthday-to-birthday, you will still reference the forecast for your Personal Year, yet the flow of it is a bit more wonky. Meaning: On your birthday, it switches gears and might feel as if it’s more of a dramatic or abrupt shift.

Either way, the forecast still applies to you. Just use your own mind, body, and spirit to make the most out of the information.

For those of you who follow the Grand-Dog Update, I have emotional news.  Oliver passed over to the Dog Star ✨ on March 14th. He was my daughter Miranda’s “Ride-or-Die,” as she says. She adopted him in 2011 from the Humane Society, where he had reportedly been found abandoned in a dumpster in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  I’ll share her written “Obituary” for him:

I knew this day would come, and I still wasn’t ready. ❤️💔 Yesterday, we said goodbye to the sweetest, derpiest, most vocal, expressive, opinionated, and beautiful soul. Oliver was my ride-or-die for over 13 years, my best boy through every chapter, and he lived a full life of so many adventures and so much love. I will miss you more than I can ever say, my little Ollie-boy, Sweet Potato, Ollie Biyali, Mr. Peebody, Oliver Rowdy. Life will not be the same without you. 🥺❤️💔❤️‍🩹

I just wanted to let all of you know that the update will include Rio and Oscar — yet we’ll always think about Oliver as well!  I know he’s up there with our other beloved family dogs.  So Oliver sends all of us love and a reminder to relish all the minutes and enjoy all the snacks.
