1 Personal Year | April is a 5 Personal Month

🤔  Reflection for April: This is the month not to be derailed by uncertainty —and use curiosity and flexibility to your ultimate advantage.

The 1 Personal Year demands that you choose to walk through some new doors. Okay, fine. Sound good.  Sounds easy enough. Yet wait—what doors? Where are they? Have I missed the door? Am I even on the right street—or the right city or country or…? What if I’m not anywhere close to THE door I’m meant to open?

AAAAhhhhhhrrggghhh.

Existential crisis, anyone?

Then place the energy of the frenetic and adventurous 5 (which is the vibe for April for you) into the mix, and you’re bound to experience a month of changing circumstances and a few white-knuckle moments!

I trust you’re ready for some plot twists that are ripe and prepped for take-off.

Let’s also place your month into a larger context.

Don’t forget that we’re all globally experiencing a 9 Universal Year — a collective time of unraveling, letting go of the old to make room for the new.  It’s tumultuous, emotional, and — most often — confusing and somewhat draining emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Add to that some rather seismic Astrology:  Last month (March) alone, this is the break-down:

Venus and Mercury retrogrades, a total lunar eclipse, and the spring equinox, potentially bringing shifts in relationships, communication, and new beginnings.

  • March 1: Venus began its retrograde in Aries, which could impact relationships, values, and creative expression.
  • March 13-14: A total lunar eclipse, potentially bringing out-of-the-blue shifts in wellness, daily routines, and mental energy.
  • March 14 – April 7: Mercury retrograde in Aries, which could lead to miscommunications and re-evaluations, then moving back into Pisces on March 29th, remaining there until after it goes direct on April 7th.
  • March 20: Spring equinox, marking the start of a new astrological cycle as the sun enters Aries.
  • March 29: A new moon and a partial solar eclipse.

What’s the point? There’s A LOT going on energetically, whether we like it or not or even believe in it or not. I’ve always joked (but not joked) that once you know both your Astrology and your Numerology, you’re out of excuses!

Just know that this is a year for the record-books globally and perhaps it’s the same for you in your own personal life as well.

On April 14th or 23rd you can expect more of a punch or crescendo in your pursuits. Can you single-task enough to bring about the results you’d like to experience?

A key concept for the month is the idea of pursuit.

What is it that you’re pursuing? What’s tugging at your mind, heart, and soul right now?  And if you were to actually get it, would you know what to do with it!?!

The 5 month within a 1 Personal Year forces your hand and requires a shake-up. The key is not to throw up your hands and feel that you have no efficacy right now—meaning, this is a time to take action rather than hang around and wait for someone to tell you what to do or to give you a stamp of approval.

When the 5 (the energy of the four-weeks of April) makes an appearance, there will be changes.

And it guides you toward taking a risk and facing your fears. The 5 is a catalyst for change and growth with a focus on seeing the world as your oyster, not your prison. I knew a person who used to repeat this quote:  “In life, there’s more to be endured than enjoyed.” The 5 would laugh in my friend’s face and say that’s a matter of opinion and call him on his negativity.

Use the vivacious energy of the 5 to you advantage this month and really get out there and stretch yourself. When you identify what you are pursuing with the utmost specificity (and with some focus and commitment), the pursuit of it is the point of this month for you.

Get up, get out, and get going! Be unabashed about going after what you want—no apologizing, no justifications, none of that. Get clear and go for it.

Both the energies of the 1 and 5 relate to sudden change, adventure, freedom, achievement, and forward momentum. So lean into it all with a sense of adventure and open curiosity. What could possibly go wrong! 😉#carpe-diem

Given that this is a year devoted to asserting your sense of independence, April will have a bit of built-in pressure around this element of life. The scary part can be that something rather big in your world is ready to turn a corner.

Are you ready to move the needle and embody the very real shifts that you’re being asked to make? Or more succinctly, are you ready to take action and allow the very real shifts to occur that you’ve really been working toward?

Isn’t it funny how we can really want something (a new relationship, new job, new opportunity of any kind…) and then it presents itself to us and then we have to choose to make the changes necessary in order to actually do it! That’s when the proverbial rubber meets the road.

A complete change in your reality is taking place right now and it can feel both exhilarating—and potentially weird and anxiety-producing.  It’s time to open up to new experiences, new people—new everything.

Flexibility and resourcefulness can pay big dividends in April. The energy of the 5 can bring you fears to face, acknowledge, and tame.  How can you gain some level of freedom even within confining situations?

The overall energy of the 5 is about freedom. April brings opportunities to act upon whatever you want to do in order to gain higher levels of freedom in your life.

April promises to serve as a turning-point month for you in your 1 Personal Year if you’re ready to pursue a new trajectory with commitment and curiosity. Be ready for some doors to open and then even more ready to walk through them.

Note: There are two schools of thought regarding the Personal Year.

The first is that it runs from January 1 – Dec. 31 of each calendar year.

The Personal Year is derived from adding together your MONTH of birth + the DAY of birth + the CURRENT YEAR.

Therefore, the logical flow is that it takes place for the calendar year for which it is being calculated.

**Remember: If you subscribe to this mode of thought, your Personal Month RESETS and CHANGES on January 1.

The second mode of thought is that the Personal Year runs from birthday to birthday, somewhat like a Solar Return in Astrology.

If you know my work at all, you’ll know that I’m someone who simply attempts to point out the different schools of thought and then the ball is in your court. It’s up to each of us to determine method makes the most sense to us and feels right or correct.

It’s like anything else in life. People can get really adamant about the correct diet (keto? paleo? vegan? gluten-free? vegetarian? and on and on).

You can go to different doctors with the same condition and get different courses of treatment. You can study Pythagorean numerology, or subscribe more to Chaldean numerology, or other modalities.

I don’t mean to belabor it, but it might surprise you how many people contact me and leave comments insisting that their particular methodology is the only right way to do it.

If you subscribe to the birthday-to-birthday way of thinking, you calculate this way:  Using your birth date, add the MONTH + DAY + YEAR OF YOUR LAST BIRTHDAY

Just know that you’ll change into a new Personal Year on your BIRTHDAY, meaning that you’ll also change which Personal Year you read for your Forecast! This mode of thinking is more confusing until you wrap your brain around it.  💥

So I just want to be clear. It’s up to YOU to determine what school of thought feels right to you. And it’s ends up being just that:  HOW IT FEELS. Sit with it. Ponder it. Feel into it.

If you feel the Personal Year runs from birthday-to-birthday, you will still reference the forecast for your Personal Year, yet the flow of it is a bit more wonky. Meaning: On your birthday, it switches gears and might feel as if it’s more of a dramatic or abrupt shift.

Either way, the forecast still applies to you. Just use your own mind, body, and spirit to make the most out of the information.

For those of you who follow the Grand-Dog Update, I have emotional news.  Oliver passed over to the Dog Star ✨ on March 14th. He was my daughter Miranda’s “Ride-or-Die,” as she says. She adopted him in 2011 from the Humane Society, where he had reportedly been found abandoned in a dumpster in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  I’ll share her written “Obituary” for him:

I knew this day would come, and I still wasn’t ready. ❤️💔 Yesterday, we said goodbye to the sweetest, derpiest, most vocal, expressive, opinionated, and beautiful soul. Oliver was my ride-or-die for over 13 years, my best boy through every chapter, and he lived a full life of so many adventures and so much love. I will miss you more than I can ever say, my little Ollie-boy, Sweet Potato, Ollie Biyali, Mr. Peebody, Oliver Rowdy. Life will not be the same without you. 🥺❤️💔❤️‍🩹

I just wanted to let all of you know that the update will include Rio and Oscar — yet we’ll always think about Oliver as well!  I know he’s up there with our other beloved family dogs.  So Oliver sends all of us love and a reminder to relish all the minutes and enjoy all the snacks.
