Knowing your Challenge numbers and understanding their meaning can open a window of understanding during each phase of your Pinnacles.
To know what you’re up against is often half the battle of being able to fully embody your passionate purpose in life! Challenge numbers aren’t meant to be overcome—rather they indicate what you must become.
I view the Challenge numbers (particularly the 3rd or Main Challenge) as the KEYS TO YOUR CASTLE!
Why? Because most often, when the Challenge is mastered, it’s a vital yet mysterious missing link that becomes your best friend rather than your worst foe. Trust me on this.
The issue here is that when a number presents itself to you as a Challenge, it’s bombarding you with the destructive aspects of that number while simultaneously demanding that you operate in the constructive aspects of the number.
We can also see the Challenge numbers as indicative of certain weaknesses we have that we’re being asked to improve upon and turn into strengths.
The Challenge number by definition is confrontational. This number challenges you to overcome the opposing energies while becoming aligned with—and embodying—the constructive elements associated with a particular number.
The Challenge numbers indicate specific areas where there are shortcomings in your character.

5 Challenge
The 5 Challenge is highly charged, quite intense, and feels like a roller-coaster ride. Impatience, restlessness, and a relentless desire for personal freedom are at the core of this challenge.
This is the time to mindfully extract from limiting behaviors. The problem with that is that under this challenge, being mindful and using self-control is next to impossible.
With this challenge, you’ll find yourself being extremely impulsive and unstable. You’ll want to try everything at least once, so there’s a chaotic and uncontrollable aspect to this challenge cycle.
Change will be inevitable, yet it must be handled in a thoughtful, meaningful, and controlled manner. The 5 is all about freedom through self-discipline – the constructive and focused use of freedom.
Ah, there’s the rub.
You’ll be pulled toward evading responsibility rather than committing to healthy and constructive change. All in all, this challenge requires that you learn, as early on as possible, to reign in reckless or self-indulgent tendencies and to monitor your impulses.
Often during a 5 Challenge, you find yourself involved in life circumstances that are limiting, restricting, and feel smothering. You ache and yearn for freedom, yet there’s a lot standing in the way. So, while a key driving force during a 5 Challenge is a desire for change, personal freedom, sensual experience (and just experience overall!), this is a time where there are things holding you back.
Potential Destructive Aspects of the 5 Challenge
- Feelings of chaos resulting in either emotional paralysis or bad judgment
- Living a life of pure self-indulgence and lack of discipline
- Being irresponsible and unfocused
- Becoming fully immersed in addiction (food, sex, alcohol, drugs, overwork . . . )
- Living with a victim mentality and flitting from relationship to relationship, job to job
- Health issues, including mental health, adrenal system burnout, injuries, and accidents
